And I didn’t know it had XM satellite radio until now.
BUSINESS.

Hopefully you haven’t been paying for it this whole time.

Somebody doesn't look at their monthly charges.

I probably would have noticed.

I’m not even paying for it. I guess my car gets free XM?
I’m never gonna use it anyway, but still.

My car has free trial. once it runs out, i wont be renewing. I listen to CBC radio 2 in the morning and on my way home from work. I also use blueteeth to stream music from my phone- which is pretty much free 8.99/month for google play music.

There’s a button that has SAT radio written on it. What did you think it was?
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:21 |

The guy I work with didn’t know his car had remote start after owning it for about 4 year. He sold it to his son, and the first thing the son noticed was the button on the remote. He fired it up in front of my coworker right after the keys were handed over.
We live in WI, so naturally this went over well.

The only good satellite radio is free satellite radio.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:23 |

There’s also a button that says AUX, but I still don’t have auxiliary.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:24 |

probably you have to activate it, or does it play? also, car looks Audi, but .... can’t tell for sure.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:24 |
|
Or do you? Better search the car to make sure since you didn’t know you had XM.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:24 |

Trust me, when I got the car, I searched all over. I don’t have Aux.

It’s an Accord... thanks.

In the glove box or center console?
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:27 |

I’m guessing you can probably add one - if you pop out the head unit it could very well have a set or RCAs you could use.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:31 |

Yea you do, the aux is just being used for sat radio. You can get a box that plugs into where the sat radio receiver is now, that will provide a traditional auxiliary input (mini jack) input.

I’m happy enough with my FM transmitter.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:32 |

but then you’d need a subscription

Well, the screen name should have given it way .... My error. Just as “Steve in Manhattan” should give away where I live.

I’ve been using an FM transmitter for a few years now. I don’t really need an auxiliary jack that much.

Cincinnati?

Live there? No. Their chili? Damn straight I will!
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:34 |

The trick with FM transmitters is to find a dead frequency between two dead frequencies, to eliminate any interference/overlap. I’ve been doing that and the sound quality has been perfect.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:40 |
|
I’m kind of an audiophile, but even without interference (i.e. using a hard wired FM transmitter) SQ is always much better when connected directly to the amp.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:41 |
|
Of course it is, but I’m just saying that in my case it isn’t worth $300-500 for a minuscule increase in sound quality.

We had our first Skoda for a couple of months before I realised (rather shown by someone from work) I could raise and lower the car’s windows from the keyfob. Apparently it’s something most or all VAG group vehicles and Vauxhalls do.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 16:49 |

I had free trial for 9 months, then I just stopped working. I would never pay almost 20$ a month just for sat radio in my car, when I would only listen to 2-3 channels anyway.
I was fun while it lasted for free.

How about $65?
http://www.amazon.com/iSimple-ISHD53…
It’s a lot better as far as SQ much more dept, especially if you listen to any sort of “complex” music.
I used to install these years ago, they work great.

Hmm
![]() 03/07/2016 at 17:13 |
|
Haha right. It’s right at that level where you ask yourself “Do I give a $65 fuck about this?”
If you do, I’m sure that there are a million install videos. Honda’s from that era come apart really easily at least as far as stereo components are concerned.

That's for Saturday radio, i.e. Car Talk.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 17:32 |

You activate it.

they have radios on satellites now?

My dads truck has it and he just renewed it. He does lots of driving for work, so he sets it 1 station all the time.
![]() 03/07/2016 at 18:14 |

Yeah - I didn’t they’d give it to you by mistake. However, buddy got that GM OnStar free for the first year had it for more than 4 until they remembered to shut it off. 10+ years ago, of course.

He pushed it whenever he sat to disable the ejector seat. Duh.

Hmm. Well I had to activate it on my Silverado. That's all I remember about it though.
